An excellent Merlot – yet not from Bordeaux
Our Merlot vines find the best conditions on the loamy, sandy soils in the microclimate around Lake Caldaro to produce Merlot wines that can compete with the best the wine world has to offer.
It is a dense garnet-red with a dark core, with aromas of redcurrant jam, cedarwood, tobacco and forest berries. This wine has a close structure on the palate, with robust tannins and a finish that is full of character.
Our Merlot is ideal with hearty braised meat dishes, game and mature cheeses.

Grape variety: 100% Merlot
Terroir: Kaltern - Seehof: 230 m above sea level. Medium-textured, sandy loam. Its immediate vicinity to Lake Kaltern ensures an optimal microclimate.
Training system: Guyot
Yield per vine: 1.5 - 70 hl/ha
Production process: Controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks for 15 days at a maximum of 28°C with subsequent malolactic fermentation.
Aging: 50% in stainless steel tanks, 50% in French barrique casks for 12 months.
